Rooftop Design in NYC: Timeless Elegance Above the City

In the heart of bustling New York City, where architecture reaches for the sky, Urban Pot, in collaboration with Marina Papas Interior Design (design), transformed this rooftop into a luxurious retreat. The project embodies a seamless blend of cutting-edge industrial design and organic comfort, offering residents a suspended garden with sweeping views of the NYC skyline.

A bespoke plant-based architecture

To structure this aerial space, we deployed a modular system of marine-grade aluminum planters, designed to withstand the winds and climatic conditions of New York rooftops.

The layout consists of several strategic sections:

• Volumes and Perspectives: A collection of more than 30 planters in various sizes, ranging from slender structures 36" high to define spaces, to lower 30" planters to open up the view to the horizon.

• Precision Engineering: Each piece benefits from invisible welds and an integrated drainage system with raised feet, ensuring roof protection and plant health.

  
  

The Art of Living: Built-in Ipe wood furniture

The highlight of this installation lies in the harmonious integration of rest areas. Urban Pot has designed hybrid structures where metal meets the warmth of wood:

• Custom Planter Benches: Using 3/16" bent aluminum supports, we created integrated Ipe wood seats with 45-degree cuts for an impeccable cabinetmaking finish.

• Relaxation Areas: Monumental benches 78" long, resting on robust tubular structures or solid Ipe bases, invite contemplation in front of the city lights.

  
  

A sculpted, luminous atmosphere

To extend the experience beyond nightfall, custom-designed lighting cutouts were integrated directly into the structures. These plays of light accentuate the planters' architectural lines and transform the rooftop into a luminous oasis, pulsating to the rhythm of NYC.
