Luxury Penthouse Design in Calgary: Custom Planters and Waterfalls

Overlooking the Calgary, AB skyline, this penthouse project redefines the art of living at height. Urban Pot was commissioned to transform a long, narrow balcony into a private sanctuary, blending the rigor of contemporary lines with the serenity of natural elements.

A terrace sculpted by metal and water

The challenge of this project lay in the linear configuration of the balcony. To break the monotony and create an atmosphere of absolute luxury, Urban Pot designed a highly sophisticated, symmetrical layout:

• Wall Cascades: At each end of the terrace, two monumental waterfalls have been integrated into the walls. The cascading water creates an acoustic barrier against the city's hum, transforming the balcony into a soothing refuge.

• 3/16" Aluminum Planters: To support the weight of soil and water and withstand Calgary's extreme temperature variations, all structures are made of 3/16" aluminum. This greater thickness ensures maximum durability and structural rigidity, in keeping with Urban Pot's quality standards.

Interior engineering: Optimizing living space

The design concept extended inside, into the dining room on the lower level. Faced with limited space, our design team created a visual solution to enlarge the room:

• Vanishing lines: A narrow, elongated planter, framed by two massive cubes, was installed to create an effect of depth.

• Interior greening: This system integrates lush vegetation into the residence, blurring the boundaries between architecture and nature.
