HELISIS Phase 5

For the HELISIS – Phase 5 project, located in Lachine (Montreal), Urban Pot was commissioned to design and manufacture a set of custom commercial planters intended to define the outdoor spaces of a multi-residential development.
The project included very large-format planters, requiring a specific technical approach to reconcile design, logistics, and site constraints:
(2) planters 4000 x 4000 x 1000 mm H
(1) planter 5000 x 4000 x 1000 mm H
(2) planters 3000 x 2000 x 1000 mm H
Due to their large size, the biggest units were designed in modular sections. This approach facilitates transport, site access (particularly in dense urban or restricted access areas), and on-site installation, while maintaining a monolithic appearance once assembled.
This type of configuration is particularly relevant for projects in urban areas like Montreal, where access constraints (elevators, underground parking, limited loading areas) require rigorous upstream planning.
The planters were designed to offer optimal planting capacity, allowing for the integration of structural vegetation into shared outdoor spaces. Their 1000 mm height helps create natural boundary zones, while ensuring sufficient soil volume to support the long-term growth of the plants.
From a technical standpoint, manufacturing in sections requires high precision to ensure perfect alignment during on-site assembly, as well as structural stability equivalent to that of a single-piece planter.
