Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, Montreal

Kane & Fetterly is a family-owned funeral home at 5301 Décarie Blvd. in Montreal, serving families since 1965 with a personalized, human-scale approach to funeral and life celebration services. Located in the heart of the neighborhood, this Montreal funeral home needed planters worthy of the building's quiet, dignified presence.

Urban Pot supplied the custom planter system installed across the property's entrance spaces, slots, and access ramp.

A Custom Planter System Built for a Dignified Entrance

Working from the site dimensions, Urban Pot manufactured a series of custom aluminum planters, sized to fit precisely with the building's entrance spaces, slots, and ramp.

• Spaces 1 and 2: two 59" x 10" x 12" H planters in 1/8" marine-grade aluminum, with hidden welds, a folded top edge, drainage holes, and a powder-coated finish.

• Slots 3 and 4: an 80" x 8" x 12" H planter and a 122" x 8" x 12" H planter, both 1/8" marine-grade aluminum with invisible welds, folded top edge, drainage holes, and powder coating, sized to the building's slot openings for consistent proportions across the façade.

• Access ramp: four planters custom-fabricated to the ramp's incline — 86.5" x 12" x 17.5" H (sloped bottom, 10.25"), 102" x 12" x 18" H, 84.75" x 12" x 18" H, and 46" x 15.5" x 38" H with a sloped, notched base built to sit flush against an existing low wall.

Built to Last

Each planter was fabricated from 1/8" marine-grade aluminum, chosen for its corrosion resistance and durability in northern climates. Hidden welds, a folded top edge, and integrated drainage holes deliver a clean finish with minimal upkeep, while the powder-coated finish protects each unit against frost, road salt, and the temperature swings that come with Montreal winters.

This understated level of finish suited Kane & Fetterly especially well: the invisible welds and uniform finish match the sober, dignified aesthetic the entrance called for, without ever drawing attention to the planters themselves.
