WALT Dorval | Custom Planters for a Multi-Zone Rooftop Terrace

WALT is a new rental residence at the corner of Dorval and Dawson Avenues in Dorval, QC, minutes from the St. Lawrence River and close to downtown Montreal. The building's amenity terraces were designed as a full outdoor living space, from a dining and lounge deck to an outdoor kitchen and a rooftop pool.

Urban Pot supplied the custom planter system used across the terrace, from privacy screening around the outdoor kitchen to the low planters that frame the dining, lounge, and pool areas.

Working across several distinct zones on the same rooftop, Urban Pot's planters do double duty as landscaping and as structure, screening sightlines, defining seating areas, and softening the building's parapet edge.

• Privacy screening: tall matte black planters anchor mature cedars along the BBQ and outdoor kitchen area, screening it from the rest of the terrace.

• Terrace edge planters: low, elongated planters line the dining and lounge terrace, mixing flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses along the parapet edge.

• Lounge planters: square rock-mulched planters anchor the lounge seating area with low plantings that don't block sightlines.

• Pool deck planters: planters with young birch trees mark the transition from the lower terrace to the pool deck above.
